Why does a christian state that the old testament is a lie when they are contradicted by Jewish beleifs?

No offence to anyone, but I've noticed that (some) Christians are like that, they will accept what the bible says is absolutely true EXCEPT for when it's inconvenient and conflicts with their own beliefs...then what the bible says becomes metaphorical or simply a misunderstanding due to various reasons.
