My windows live messenger (msn) wont show what i am listening to, and the contact list wontgo away unless...?

i minimise the toolbar, or close it. But when i click on the screen behind it, it will not dissapear. and it will not show what i am listening to. do oi need to delete windows live messenger and then download/install it again?
