White bugs in my house plant soils, a millimeter long, fast, and very thin, you almost can't see them.?

These just showed up, I see no flies, nor any of these bugs on the branches or leaves of the plants, they are just running around in and on top of the soil, they come out for a few seconds and then go back into the soil, I really have to look closely, and with a flashlight pointed right at the soil to see them. I have not introduced a plant into the house in a while, so I'm not sure how I got them, but now they're in half of my plants, a grouping of them all together in one room. I am wondering what they are, and how to get rid of them. I really don't want to have to throw away at least fourteen plants because of these little critters. :( I love my plants, and don't want ot even think about giving them up. Any suggestions?
